Dogs on Main Street It seems like yesterday that everywhere you went in Park City, dogs roamed free. There was always a dog or two sleeping on the sidewalk outside of no name and the dogs were locals. Everyone knew the dogs by name and it was a joy to have them come up and say hi as you walked by. And you know the most amazing thing, with all those dogs and all those years, the dogs were courteous and never did their business on our sidewalks or streets. They even knew how to cross the street safely and people were thoughtful of our dogs.
Many of the businesses in Park City still have their dogs at work with them and I have always considered this one of the unique beauties of Park City.
Unfortunately, the old times are being replaced with leash laws and like todays newspaper noted 5 dogs have been reported 'off leash.' Oh my gosh. This is my thoughts. Most people move to Park City because they love it. It is the beauty and quiet life of Park City that draws them in. But now that they are there, they want Park City to be like a real city instead of the quaint little town it aspires to be and they want our dogs treated like city dogs and leashed. Funny isn't it, how people want a quaint lifestyle and then once they get it they want things to change to reflect their city norm.
As for me, I miss our dogs.
