Yes, it’s that time again. Sundance is only a few short weeks away and we have notice of the films that will play at that snowy event in Utah. The Sundance Film Festival has been kind to Ireland over the years. Such pictures as Once, Brooklyn and Glassland all played there to great acclaim. Nowhere else compares as a launching pad for a particular class of independent entertainment. We learn today that Frankie Fenton’s It’s Not Yet Dark and Neasa Ní Chianáin and David Rane’s In Loco Parentis will compete in the World Cinema Documentary Competition. Only 12 films are selected for that strand. So this counts as yet another triumph for domestic cinema. Both films were made with the support of the Irish Film Board.
