Manga Anime Drawing and Origami Art (Gr 1 & up)
While kids are thinking how fun it is to draw anime characters and fold origami, they are actually spending an entire hour on mindfulness practice. Using the two art forms as a medium, we work on extending attention span and focus, developing eye hand coordination, spacial awareness, dexterity and fine motor skills. Students will learn to focus on one task, work through frustrations and find the joy in completing an art piece. While listening to quiet classical music, the space is magical, as the students switch to a calmer state of mind and heart after their busy academic school day. Studies have proven that practicing mindfulness promotes more kindness, better math scores, fewer ADHD symptoms, more self control, less depression and improved focus.
