Happy Birthday Utah

7/20/2014

Well Utah you have another birthday coming up.  If you count back to when you were first settled you are now 169 years old.  Boy, Utah you look wonderful.  If you have never been to Utah you have really missed out.  Our mountains are so beautiful, Southern Utah is spectacular and when you hear that we have the 'greatest snow on earth,' it is not a cliché.  It is so true and the reason tourist travel from every place on the globe just to ski in our fluffy white powder.  It is not uncommon for us to get over 400" of snow a year.

Our winters are incredible but our summers are my favorite.  With millions of mountain trails and scenic valleys, there is never a time that there is nothing to do in Utah.  We have every imaginable summer sport.  Everything from fly fishing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, exploring canyon lands or riding a horse over the next rise, Utah is incredible.

Thanks to those wonderful pioneers, when people call Utah come July 24th they will find there is no one working.  What a great holiday.  Thank you to the pioneers.  The rodeo's will be in full swing and my favorite is in Oakley, Utah (only because it is the closest).  For those of us that are blessed to live here, yahoo!  A paid day off!  For those of you that are no so fortunate, pack up that car, grab those kids and your sweetheart and come to Utah and enjoy our special holiday with us.  Happy Birthday Utah...thank you for the memories!

Don't drink and drive in Park City

7/4/2014

Locals know not to drink and drive in Park City.  Of course it is common sense and no one should ever drink and drive.  However, in Park City the police are very proactive as are the taxi drivers.  There are only two roads leading into Park City.  Highway 224 is called the 'gauntlet,' for a reason.  The police patrol that road like hawks.  Kearns boulevard is the same.  There is a saying in Park City, "If you are driving after midnight in Park City and you are not a taxi...you've been drinking and you are fair game."  Not only are the police watching for you, taxi drivers will turn you in if they see you drunk and you get behind the wheel.  Remember, if you get in an accident you might kill one of our drivers, our guests or our locals.  So, we take drinking and driving very serious as a town.  Your DUI will cost you about $5,000.00 and your insurance will go up. It might cost you your life of the life of someone we love.  A taxi will cost you about $20.  So save a life, go home safe 'in a TAXI 'and don't even think about drinking and driving in Park City!

PARK CITY'S FIRST JULY 4TH

7/3/2014

Picture this...It is May 1872 and George and Rhonda Snyder break through the forest (just behind where the Yarrow is now)  to behold an incredibly beautiful mountain valley.  George exclaims, "it looks like a park."  Thus the name Park City.  As the first July 4th rolled around and with few provisions, Rhonda took old clothes and a baby blanket and stitched together an American Flag.  Come July 4th, 1872 Park City celebrated Independence day for the first time.  Now mind you, there weren't very many people, but those Mormons knew how to put together a real feast and still do. :)

Thank you to the pioneers.  Thank you to the Indians that once lived here. Thank you Abraham Lincoln.  It was all you did that gave us this great little town that is 'heaven on earth.'  THE REPUBLIC OF PARK CITY. :)  Finally, thank you locals.  People all over the world talk about how friendly you are.  You give Park City a great name.  FASTAXI loves PARK CITY

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY Park City

I am Diania (pronounced Di Anna and I love Park City and so will you..  Born and raised in El Paso, Texas I never envisioned a place so wonderful existed.  Before I started FASTAXI, I owned Deep Powder Transportation and learned about the trials, troubles and fun of being a taxi driver in Park City and being a guest, trying to get a ride.  With over100 taxi companies, it's amazing, sometimes there are no taxi's available, especially after 2 a.m.

I know this space is suppose to be about me but what makes Park City so wonderful is the locals, the culture and the magnificent beauty.  The people here are genuinely nice.  They aren't pretending.

But a word of warning:  DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE IN PARK CITY.  Our main road is called the gauntlet for a reason.  Ask any local and they will tell you...if you drink and drive in Park City, you are going to have a very bad encounter with our police department.
